During a routine press conference on October 18, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed a question regarding recent U.S. sanctions against Chinese drone companies, citing their collaboration with Russia as the justification.
A reporter inquired about China’s stance on these developments. Mao Ning responded firmly, stating, “China strongly opposes the U.S. government’s unlawful unilateral sanctions against Chinese enterprises and categorically rejects their unfounded accusations and pressure.”
He emphasized that China is neither the creator nor a party to the Ukraine crisis, consistently advocating for peace and dialogue and playing a constructive role in promoting a political resolution. He clarified that China has never supplied lethal weapons to either side of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and strictly controls the export of dual-use items, including drones, expressing opposition to the military use of civilian drones.
Mao Ning urged the U.S. to stop its attempts to smear China by exploiting the Ukraine situation and to cease the unlawful unilateral sanctions and extraterritorial jurisdiction against Chinese entities and individuals. He affirmed that China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises and citizens.
