Guangzhou -Huangpu No. 1- intelligent computing cluster construction started

On October 24, the Guangzhou Data Exchange (Huangpu) service area was officially inaugurated in the Guangzhou Development Zone and Huangpu District. On the same day, the construction of the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster was officially launched.

In recent years, the Guangzhou Development Zone and Huangpu District have been advancing the reform of the market-oriented configuration of data factors. They completed the first batch of data asset listing cases in Guangzhou, established the city’s first data factor industry association, and released the first batch of district-level industrial public data products, “Yunlida” and “Smart Driving Treasure,” empowering initiatives with data. Currently, the Guangzhou Data Exchange in Huangpu has over 100 members and a total transaction volume of 567 million yuan.

“As the importance of data becomes more recognized, safety will also gain consensus. Exchange transactions can ensure the traceability of public data trading; we can trace where the data comes from and where it goes, helping to prevent potential ethical risks and illegal trading,” said Kuang Chumeng, the head of the Guangzhou Data Exchange (Huangpu) service area.

It is reported that the first phase of the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It will provide local low-latency intelligent computing services for research institutions and companies in need of computational power, thereby reducing costs and facilitating the integration of digital and real economies.

Designed as a “new type of urban infrastructure,” the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster aims for a construction scale of approximately 1024 petaflops of artificial intelligence computing power. It will provide affordable, efficient, and convenient AI computing services to universities, research institutions, enterprises, and government entities within Huangpu District.

Xiang Ben, the secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Science City (Guangzhou) Investment Group Co., stated, “Taking advantage of the construction of ‘Huangpu No. 1,’ we will upgrade the existing data centers in the district, focusing on local computing services, while fostering deep integration between regional computing power and industry.”

He added that leveraging the energy advantages of the cities paired through the “East Data, West Computing” initiative, they plan to invest in “Huangpu No. 1” (Western Base) after establishing the Huangpu headquarters. This will facilitate the transfer of low-latency computational needs to western cities, significantly reducing usage costs and enhancing the efficiency of matching computing resources and demands. They aim to innovate the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster with a “front store, back factory” model, actively integrating into the national unified computing network.

For Liu Miao, chairman of Turing New Intelligent Computing (Guangzhou) Technology Co., the launch of the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster is a significant boon for enterprises in Huangpu. As a partner in this project, Turing New Intelligent Computing will be deeply involved in the construction of the “Huangpu No. 1” intelligent computing cluster.
