On October 16, the Huang Danian Memorial Hall was inaugurated in Rongxian, a town known for its expatriate community in Yulin City, Guangxi.
Born in 1958 in Nanning, Guangxi, Huang Danian embarked on his journey in the field of aerogeophysics shortly after graduating high school. He began his career in the Luowu Iron Mine area of Rongxian, where he discovered his passion for geophysical exploration. In 1977, after taking the college entrance exam at the Yangmei Commune in Rongxian, he was accepted into the Applied Geophysics program at Changchun University of Science and Technology.
During the inauguration ceremony, Chen Jieying, the Vice Chair of the China Overseas Chinese Association and the Chair of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Returned Overseas Chinese Association, delivered a speech highlighting Huang Danian as a role model for overseas Chinese and their families. She emphasized that he exemplifies the commitment to national rejuvenation and is a remarkable representative of the core socialist values. “His story and spirit inspire us all,” she noted, “becoming a precious spiritual asset for the Chinese nation.”
Chen also urged local authorities in Guangxi to seize this opportunity to explore and articulate the essence of Huang Danian’s spirit, sharing the stories of exemplary figures in the overseas Chinese community.
Luo Li, the Party Secretary of Rongxian, acknowledged Huang Danian’s significant contributions to education and research in the country. “We will fully utilize the memorial hall to promote patriotic education and the exemplary spirit of the overseas Chinese community. It will serve as a platform to cultivate talent with a strong patriotic sentiment, innovative spirit, and practical abilities,” she stated.
The Huang Danian Memorial Hall, spanning 200 square meters, is located at Yangmei Middle School in Rongxian. The hall features an array of multimedia presentations, including sculptures, oil paintings, charts, and restored scenes, which collectively depict Huang Danian’s journey through education, work, and life, emphasizing his dedication and achievements.
