On October 14, the Vice Minister of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Yo-jong, spoke to the media, asserting that North Korea is fully aware that South Korea is responsible for the recent incident involving drone infiltration into Pyongyang.
Kim Yo-jong further stated that if the sovereignty of a nuclear-armed state is violated by forces nurtured by the United States, then the U.S. should be held accountable for those actions.
According to a recent report from the Korea Herald, the South Korean Ministry of Defense has taken a stance of “not confirming” whether military drones were sent to Pyongyang.
Previously, on October 11, the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement alleging that South Korea had used drones on October 3, 9, and 10 to penetrate the airspace over Pyongyang, dispersing numerous anti-North Korea leaflets. The statement emphasized that South Korea’s actions—using drones capable of military attacks to infiltrate the capital—constitute a serious provocation that cannot be overlooked or forgiven.
On October 12, Kim Yo-jong addressed this issue again, asserting that “the South Korean military cannot evade responsibility as the main perpetrator or accomplice of this major violation of sovereignty.” The report from the Korean Central News Agency highlighted her strong condemnation of the South Korean military’s attempts to deflect responsibility.
