During a recent visit to Anhui, General Secretary of the Communist Party, President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of deeply implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress and the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee. He called for Anhui to fully embrace new development philosophies, leverage the advantages of multiple national development strategies, and continuously strive to establish itself as a significant hub for technological innovation, emerging industries, and reform and opening up. His vision includes a comprehensive green transformation of the economic and social sectors, further integrating into the new development paradigm, driving high-quality growth, and embarking on a journey towards modernization.

Accompanied by Liang Yanshun, Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Qingxian, the provincial governor, Xi Jinping toured cities including Anqing and Hefei from October 17 to 18, engaging in in-depth research in historical cultural districts and technology innovation parks.

In Anqing, Xi first visited the Six-Foot Lane, a site renowned for its historical significance as a model of neighborly harmony in China. Here, he explored the history and heritage of the lane, reviewed relevant cultural artifacts, and was briefed on efforts to promote traditional culture and enhance spiritual civilization. He stressed the importance of cultural preservation through creative transformation and innovative development, and called for a coordinated effort to advance socialist culture, revolutionary culture, and the inheritance of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, which forms a solid foundation for social governance.

During his visit, Xi interacted warmly with local residents and tourists, emphasizing the need to resolve internal conflicts through mediation. He highlighted that the legacy of harmonious living portrayed in Six-Foot Lane should serve as an educational platform for promoting traditional virtues and creating a harmonious society where people can thrive.

The following day, in Hefei at the Binhu Science City, he viewed a showcase of major technological innovations from Anhui, engaging with researchers and business leaders. Xi examined various advanced technology products, including intelligent connected vehicles, next-generation information technology, new energy, and artificial intelligence, expressing admiration for the achievements made. He underscored that to advance modernization, scientific advancements must lead the way, and innovation is essential for achieving self-reliance in technology.

Later on the morning of October 18, Xi received reports on the work of the Anhui Provincial Party and Government, acknowledging their accomplishments while setting clear objectives for future endeavors. He underscored the urgency of accelerating technological innovation and industrial transformation, focusing on constructing high-level laboratory facilities, enhancing international scientific exchanges, and fostering a comprehensive ecosystem to support innovation.

Xi also pointed out the need to enhance urban-rural integration and bolster the agricultural sector, ensuring food security while promoting sustainable rural development. He underscored the importance of employment for key demographics, healthcare, education, and effective public services extended to rural areas.

Moreover, he called for strengthening the synergy between culture and tourism, leveraging Red culture for educational and tourism purposes. He urged for the preservation of traditional villages and architectures while fostering innovative development of traditional culture.

Finally, Xi reiterated the crucial role of maintaining party leadership and strengthening party discipline, encouraging a culture of accountability and active engagement among party members while tackling bureaucracy and formalism. He stressed the importance of focusing on economic work for the last quarter of the year and implementing central policies to achieve annual economic and social development goals.

He was accompanied on his visit by He Lifeng, as well as officials from relevant central and national departments.
