Diplomacy and foreign affairs knowledge enters Qinghai universities

On October 16, the “Ministry of Foreign Affairs Knowledge on Diplomacy and International Affairs in Higher Education” event took place at Qinghai Minzu University, as reported by China News.

Representatives from Qinghai University, Qinghai Normal University, Qinghai University of Technology, and Qinghai Minzu University were in attendance. The event aimed to enhance the awareness of consular protection among university faculty and students, broaden their international horizons, and help them engage more safely in global opportunities while demonstrating the positive spirit of the Chinese people.

Chen Rongjie, Deputy Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a lecture titled “Implementing the People-Centric Development Philosophy, and Enhancing Consular Protection Work in the New Era.” He explored how to respond to emergencies abroad and shared his vast diplomatic experience, emphasizing the importance of understanding consular protection.

During the interactive session, attendees were encouraged to express their thoughts and questions.

Li Yali, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Management Office in Qinghai Province, remarked, “This lesson used vivid case studies to illustrate the Ministry’s dedication to the ‘diplomacy for the people’ service philosophy. It enhanced the understanding of foreign policy among faculty and students, allowing them to feel the warmth and strength of knowing that ‘wherever you go, your homeland is by your side.'”

Mao Tianying, a student majoring in ideological and political education at Qinghai Normal University, shared her insight: “What impacted me the most was the ‘12308’ emergency hotline for global consular protection and services. It represents the support and protection our homeland provides to every overseas Chinese citizen, reinforcing my sense of security and stability that comes from our nation’s strength.”

Chai Yuhao, an English major at Qinghai Minzu University, expressed his excitement after watching a video of compatriots safely returning home: “Seeing our fellow citizens back in the country made me really emotional. I aim to enhance my professional skills and hope to contribute to friendly exchanges between China and other countries in the future.”
