On October 15, during the second round of the 2024-2025 season of the Chinese Men’s Professional Basketball League (CBA), Shanxi Fenjiu faced off against Sichuan Fenggu Liquor at home. Shanxi secured a convincing victory, defeating Sichuan with a score of 108-91, marking their second consecutive win.
In the early moments of the game, Sichuan took a slight lead, ending the first quarter three points ahead. However, as the second quarter progressed, Shanxi’s foreign player, Goodwin, took center stage, turning the tide in favor of his team. By halftime, Shanxi led 62-54.
After the break, the gap between the two teams narrowed, with Sichuan trailing by just two points at one point. But key performances by Shanxi player Jia Mingru helped regain their advantage. In the final quarter, Shanxi intensified their defense, extending their lead further. Ultimately, they emerged victorious with a score of 108-91.
Throughout the match, Goodwin was a standout performer for Shanxi, scoring 26 points, while Jia Mingru added 22 points. For Sichuan, Edmond led the scoring with 28 points, and Maric contributed 21.
Post-game, Shanxi’s head coach Pan Jiang reflected on the performance, saying, “While we won the game today, I’m not entirely satisfied. Our mindset in the first half was a bit anxious, and we had many defensive lapses. We made adjustments at halftime, and the second half was much better.”
When asked about Jia Mingru’s performance, Pan praised him, stating, “I think he was quite composed. He’s someone we can rely on in crucial moments.”
Earlier, on October 13, Shanxi had also won their opening game of the season, defeating Guangdong 110-99 at home.
