Guangxi builds a high-level public hospital network to continuously improve medical service experience

On September 19, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Health Commission held a press conference in Nanning to discuss their initiatives focused on reforming public hospitals and improving high-quality healthcare services in the region. Huang Yanmei and Tang Xili reported that the core objectives revolve around expanding quality medical resources and establishing a strong network of high-level public hospitals.

The Health Commission revealed that Guangxi is home to 446 medical institutions at the secondary level and above, which have implemented 6,290 convenience measures designed to enhance patient services. These improvements have collectively reduced costs for patients by approximately 26.62 million yuan.

During the press conference, officials highlighted significant achievements stemming from the ongoing reforms. Guangxi has successfully constructed three national regional medical centers and four autonomous regional medical centers, introducing over 300 new technologies and projects. These advancements are aimed at boosting regional healthcare capabilities and minimizing the necessity for patients to seek care outside their local areas. Since the inception of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Guangxi has opened 10 new Class III Grade A hospitals, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all 14 districts.

Additionally, the region has initiated the “Thousand County Project” to bolster the capabilities of county hospitals. Currently, 44 county hospitals have been upgraded, with 23 achieving Class III classification and five successfully gaining “three A” status through rigorous evaluations.

Focused on addressing major diseases and health concerns within the population, Guangxi has accelerated initiatives to bridge gaps in specialized care. The region has established 51 national clinical key specialty projects and 330 regional clinical key specialty projects, enhancing the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of public hospitals through specialized development.

To strengthen county hospitals, Guangxi has implemented various support initiatives, including targeted assistance and team-based support. This effort has led to the establishment of 62 emergency and rescue centers in 20 key counties identified for rural revitalization efforts. The region is making significant strides in advancing major disease prevention and treatment, steadily increasing healthcare institution coverage and improving treatment quality.

With a goal of reducing patient burden and enhancing the overall healthcare experience, Guangxi is continually working to refine healthcare services. The Health Commission has launched initiatives to optimize the patient experience throughout the treatment process, from pre-consultation and outpatient visits to hospitalization and post-discharge care. They are also working to standardize and regulate hospital information systems, providing digital services like cloud imaging, online prescriptions, and online payments, which significantly improve public access to healthcare.

Furthermore, Guangxi is promoting the sharing and mutual recognition of inspection results across all medical institutions, resulting in 16.9 million mutually recognized cases involving costs totaling 63 million yuan. This initiative effectively reduces unnecessary repeated tests and excessive examinations, alleviating the financial burden on the community.
