In a recent interview, a spokesperson for the NYPD discussed the investigation into a series of commercial burglaries spanning Flushing, Bayside, and Fresh Meadows. Authorities have released a photo of a suspect, who is reportedly skilled at breaking into businesses through back doors and windows, stealing cash, and making a quick getaway. The NYPD is calling on the community for assistance in capturing this individual.
Details from police reports reveal that the first burglary took place at 4:55 AM on August 7, at a commercial property on Northern Boulevard. The suspect accessed the premises through a back window and fled with around $100 in cash taken from a drawer. Just two days later, at approximately 6 PM on August 9, they targeted another business on Northern Boulevard, making off with about $340 from a cash register.
The pattern of crime continued with a break-in at 4:15 AM on August 10 at yet another location on Northern Boulevard, where $600 was stolen from the register. In a near miss, the suspect attempted to break into a store just 30 minutes later but left without any loot.
On August 14, at 3:30 AM, the suspect shifted focus to a business at Union Turnpike, where approximately $650 was stolen. The most significant theft occurred on August 18 at 3:45 AM, when the suspect broke into a business on 162nd Street, accessing a safe and absconding with around $6,500 in cash. Remarkably, just half an hour later, they struck again, stealing an additional $1,000 from a cash register at a nearby location.
The string of incidents culminated on the same day at 4:45 AM when the suspect made off with about $5,000 in cash from yet another business on 162nd Street, effectively vanishing without a trace.
