A delegation from the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese visited Malaysia to promote the sharing of development opportunities between overseas Chinese enterprises in Shanghai and oversea

On September 12, in a recent interview with a reporter from China News Service, the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Association delegation, led by Chairman Qi Quansheng, shared insights about their trip to Malaysia from September 8 to 11. They were invited to participate in the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference, held in Kuala Lumpur. During this event, the delegation aimed to promote the theme “Connecting Overseas Chinese – Shanghai’s Import Expo,” facilitating opportunities for Shanghai’s overseas Chinese enterprises to collaborate with Chinese businesspeople abroad.

The delegation attended the conference from September 10 to 11, where they engaged in extensive interactions with representatives from the business community. They emphasized the vital role of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between China and other countries. They highlighted the strong ties between overseas Chinese businesspeople and Shanghai, noting that the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Association is dedicated to providing platforms and services for overseas entrepreneurs to visit, collaborate, and invest in Shanghai. Furthermore, they extended an invitation to overseas Chinese businesspeople to enthusiastically participate in the China International Import Expo and make use of the “6+365” transaction service platform.

In addition, the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Association and the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association co-hosted a promotional event titled “Gathering in Shanghai for a Shared Future.” Notable attendees included Ma Cuihong, Minister-Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Dong Yiwen, Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association, and other leaders from various Chinese community organizations in Malaysia. During this promotional session, Chairman Qi Quansheng delivered a keynote presentation on the conference’s theme. Representatives from local organizations such as the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce and the Shanghai Investment Promotion Service Center discussed the business environment and development opportunities in Shanghai. Several entrepreneurs from both Shanghai and Malaysia shared their insights into investment prospects. The Youth Association of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Association signed a friendship alliance agreement with the youth groups of the Malaysian Chinese Association and the Sabah Chinese Association.

The delegation also participated in an entrepreneurs’ exchange meeting co-hosted by the Shanghai Overseas Promotion Association and the Malaysian Chinese Enterprise Deng Gao Group. They visited the Selangor Technology Industrial Park and encouraged collaboration between Shanghai’s overseas Chinese enterprises and Malaysian businesspeople within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

During their visit, the delegation attended a welcome gala hosted by the Malaysian Chinese Association, enjoying a cultural performance called “Cultural Affection for China.” They also met with Wu Hengcan, Chairman of the Malaysian Han Culture Center, to discuss the preservation and promotion of Chinese traditional culture overseas. Finally, they held discussions with representatives of Shanghai’s overseas Chinese business community to reflect on the trip’s achievements and explore further cooperation with overseas Chinese entrepreneurs.
